NARCISSISTIC ABUSE: Introduction/rarely talked about but highly prevalent in relationships.

Many people suffer from narcissistic abuse in relationships, but are often oblivious to fact that they are trapped in quicksand. Some of these relationships burn out fast, while others grow long and painful. For many reasons that you might imagine, women seem more disadvantaged in a narcissistic relationship than men; women often suffer two-fold when children are involved, since they are usually the ones left nursing emotional wounds while also caring for the children. Although relationships can end due to various reasons, narcissistic relationships account for many of the casualties due to their superficial nature. These relationships go through a cycle of high idealization to gradual rejection by the narcissist. Their is usually a high level of manipulation, secrecy and apathy which leaves the victim emotionally shaken. The narcissist, on the other hand, moves on quickly with another victim and relives the cycle all over again.
