Coimbatore Institute of Technology (CIT) is an autonomous government-aided institution. Affiliated to Anna University, Chennai it is recognised by the AICTE and has been awarded an ‘A’ Grade by NAAC and also by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Established in 1956 by the V Rangaswamy Naidu Educational Trust (VRET), CIT offers seven UG, nine PG, three five-year Integrated MSc programmes as well as doctoral programmes across 13 departments such as Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, among others. CIT Coimbatore has been ranked third in the government and government-aided colleges by Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievement (ARIIA) 2020 as well as ranked 34 in the NIRF Rankings 2020 in the Engineering category.

The institute has signed 20 MoUs with various academic and industrial organisations for conducting summer/ winter schools, postgraduate and research studies, sabbatical exchange of faculty and setting up centres of excellence. Popular among them are Coimbatore Industrial Infrastructure Association (COINDIA), Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (CODISSIA), Sector Skills Council -NASSCOM, University of Kazan, Republic of Tartarstan, Russian Federation, University of Massachusetts, North Dartmouth, USA, IBM, BSNL, etc. The institute has an Entrepreneurship Development Cell which helps students to turn their innovative ideas into reality by providing the required assistance. It has tie-ups with Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India-Ahmedabad, and Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute-Tamil Nadu.

Coimbatore Institute of Technology offers financial assistance to students through various government and private scholarships. Popular ones include Adi Dravidar Welfare Scholarship, Backward Class Welfare Scholarship, Chief Minister’s Scholarship, Tamil Nadu Educational Trust Scholarship and Oil & Natural Gas Commission Scholarship. The highest CTC offered during 2019-20 final placements stood at Rs 33 LPA by D E Shaw & Co. Some of the top recruiters who visited the campus for hiring include L&T, Bosch, Toshiba, Thoughtworks, Shapoorji Pallonji, among others.

CIT Coimbatore Courses and Fees 2021
The courses of CIT Coimbatore are offered under various disciplines, namely Science, Engineering, Computer Applications and Humanities. The duration of these programmes varies from course to course.

CIT Coimbatore Admission 2021
Coimbatore Institute of Technology admission 2021 is currently open. The college follows an online admission process for all the courses. The college accepts TNEA exam scores for BE/ BTech programmes, ME/ MTech and MCA admissions are based on GATE and TANCET examination followed by TANCA Counselling. MBA admissions are done basis TANCET scores. A valid score in CIT-MSc Entrance Test is required for admission to the Integrated MSc programme while admission to PhD programme is based on marks scored in the qualifying exam.
