Two teenage sisters lose their mother to COVID-19. A 19-year-old is made an orphan when both her parents die within days of each other, and she must now worry about her 2 younger siblings' future.
What makes their grief harder to bear are the school closures in Malaysia over the past year - which have deprived them of a social support system, and have brought tremendous challenges in keeping up with their education.
Even as schools in the country are starting to reopen, much will need to be done to catch the children up, and to help them deal with the trauma of the pandemic, say observers.
